Making Skins with Paint.net
From Rigs of Rods Wiki
This tutorial is about making a skin in Paint.NET. I will be using the dodge challenger as my example. You would have to get Paint.NET.
- To start off, you will need to find a .png image skin of a vehicle you would like to skin.
- Once you have the .png or .dds image of the vehicle go into the picture icon and click File then Save As and save it to your desktop.
- After you find the image on your desktop, open and minimize Paint.net. Then click and drag the image from your desktop into Paint.net.
- A message should appear pertaining to the drag and drop(click and drag). Then click Add into Layer(s).
- Now the car should be in the empty space. To choose a color click on Window and select a color of your choice.
- After the color is chosen, go to Tools and click on Magic Wand. This will help you select the section you want to paint. Click with the Magic Wand tool on a certain section in the image. This will cause that part to highlight. Now once it's highlighted, go back to Tools and click on Paint Bucket. Then just simply click on the selected section on the image. Once the section is painted, select the Magic Wand tool again and repeat this whole process until you're satisfied.
- When you're done with the skin, save the File and select the Flatten option when the window pops up.
