Error 5

This error is thrown when a material (ie, a tracks/whatever) is not found. This error now occurs frequently in v0.35 because only active truck .zip files are opened. You may have dependencies in unopened .zip files. The RoR.log file will specify which material is missing.

OverlayElement::setMaterialName

The material being requested is not found. The mod you downloaded is incomplete. Ask the author for a complete one.

Missing Object LOD

Another reason is that the map you are using uses LODs (Level Of Detail), and you have a non-updated version of RoR, which means that LODs cause Error 5. A fix for this is to go here and download a newer version of RoR.

Once it has updated to the latest version, open RoRconfig.exe and enable Object LODs in the Advanced tab of the Graphics section. You can also enable Truck LODs which may improve Fps, but causes visual corruption with some vehicle 3D models.

0.38.18 beta

This error appears with some Windows 7 systems. Usually with something like that: OGRE EXCEPTION(5:ItemIdentityException): OverlayElement with name tracks/DirectionArrow/Text not found. in OverlayManager::getOverlayElementImpl at ..\..\OgreMain\src\OgreOverlayManager.cpp (line 621)

On some systems this can be solved by starting RoR as administrator.

1st Gen Dodges

Any vehicles using the Dashboard Mesh from the 1stGenDodges will also get this error.

Add a ; in front of the dashboard text to fix the syntax.

In some Cases you can just open RoR without Running as Admin. Then, the certain vehicle will work.
