I use Sony vegas pro 11 and adobe after effects cs5.
(there aren't any good free programms)

Depends on what you are trying to do. For basic cutting/converting jobs I use http://www.virtualdub.org. Free, but really quite basic.

i only use final cut pro x...! perfect program and imo very very powerful!
its not really free but i felt like responding..XDD
