    Default MO_TUG_40

Per the advice of simpeligent, here is a WIP thread for this boat.

A few questions, does node 0 (try to) stay at the water’s surface? I have the buoyancy, and weight distributed like I do to keep it from bouncing, but if all I need to do to stabilize it is put the 0 node at water level, then that makes things easier.

Second question, How do I fix the inside camera to stay straight?

As for it being a "cartoon boat", I know I need to work on the mesh, and texture to flesh it out, I just wanted some information on boat creation, such as the camera issue, so I figured just releasing it would be the best way to get answers.

    node 0:
what I learned last few monthes - if node 0 is where the water will be (waterline), the boat does not jump at spawning..
if it's above waterline, it falls down that much, if it's below, it jumps up..
I have same issue with the cargo princess ..
didnt know that at the time lol

    camera:
if you hit K in game, you can see where it is mounted and how stable it is..
use as those 8 nodes some statically sound positions that will stabilize it..

    cartoon boat:
forget that - some kids here like to bash what ever comes out..
if it does not look like baywatch or isn't at least a schoolbus, they wont like it..
just ignore those bad vibe guys..
not all of us can reach a level like gabester with his gavrils..
Im not even sure that is needed to have fun..

would you consider making it heavier?
than the jumping would not look so cartoonish - would be slower..
but I dont know how much it will affect the waterline..

    hth

    PS:
please add some ropables - so it can be lifted with a crane..
just a hype of mine cause I built a swimming crane :-)
almost no boat is liftable lol

I have been working on the N/B. I have made a structure for the pilothouse.

I also added two nodes for exhaust. Whenever I enable the exhaust, all it does is covers the whole boat in smoke, and lags my computer to the point of unresponsveness. I know exhaust works on my computer, as I can use it on every other vehicle. I looked at other vehicles' exhaust sections, and cannot see the issue. Can anyone tell me what the issue is?

    exhausts
;ref node, direction node, factor material
    41, 40, 1 default

I increased the ridgidness of the nodes, still needs some tweaking, though, but not as jelloish.

I increased the mass, a little. The boat I based it on should weigh ~16,000, and the mass is now 18588KG.

I figured out the camera issue I had, I did not configure the primary camera setting (they were just copied from the truck descriptor file, or somewhere else). So I set those, and now the cinama camera is correct.

    I will add ropeables.

I have attacheted the .boat file, I do not know if it will show up correctly with the old mesh, as I have made a new mesh for it. I will update the .zip file when I can (I only get on the computer on Saturday, and Sunday mornings)

The first image is the new mesh, I have made the porthole windows (need to cut them out still, they are glass over hull...) Next I am going to make the windshield, then the door, then I will cut them all out, and start making details. I am jumping aroud a bit, trying to figure out what I am doing, the extent of my 3D modeling knowledge is limited to little more than the tutorials on Blenders website.

Quick note, on the pictures of the NB structure, node 41 (exhaust ref node) is the topmost node, and node 40 is the one right below, and slightly forward of it. This is how other vehicles are set up, but for some reason it just blacks out the screen with smoke for me. In the boat file attaced on the last post the exhaust section is commented out.

Exhaust seems to be an unsolved bug

I never used them so far - I can't say..

the rest of the boat looks much better now - in terms of handling..
    it sails great..
keep on the direction - it will get well..

btw: the new mesh hangs in the air right now - but that is a small issue..

Yeah, I have a new mesh that changes the cordinates a little, to go with the .boat file, I will upload it when I get a few things fixed on it...

Here is the updated mesh. I still have a long way to go, but it's getting there.
