    Great Pics..
what is that crane - care to share it?
on the new map "The Ocean", that one would fit to one of the harbours to load from ships directly to the trains..

    Larger Ships:
I dont agree - this one got already accused of having too many beams and be laggy - if you build bigger ships (that work) most ppl will not be able to use it..
Also - what harbour is there, that could be used with bigger ships than this one..
I dont know of any that are publicly available..

The ocean will be able to handle the princess, the offshore crane and in parts also nordia express - but that ship is already kind of oversized for ROR

    about tieing the princess..
nope - not by now - ror does so far not have a N/B-structure for harbours, that could tie ships..
I thought about building one - but we will see..

the tie-problem caused the harbours in the ocean to be come u-shaped..
so you can keep the ship there by letting the thrusters run..
looks to me like a valid solution..

in starling islands harbour, I used ones for testing the atlas tug to push a larger ship in position - but it's not a valid solution unles you are in multiplayer with inter-player-collisions turned on..
one player would need to stay in the tug and push at the right time in the right direction during the loading - otherwise both will drift away..

oh - if I may be blunt - need a bigger ship? - build one :-D
I will definately test it out and proppably use it..
as long as there is a harbour for it..

    .odef
the huge one from NSH is an odef - open the zip, copy all files you need to your map and place it where you want..
that should be possible with ease..

however - I dont see the point in loading a ship, that can't sail away..

Can you show me what happens exactly?
    Screenshot or something

because actually since this boat is made with buoant nodes, it is technically impossible that this ship sinks..
ROR does not allow those nodes to go under water permanently..

it is not a buoant hull - those ships can sink - mine can not..

also I can hardly imagine, that a single container would sink the ship, if it on the other hand can carry the terex titan..
    see here..
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgVhTtvQWLE

but if you say it sinks, I believe you - I just need to see what happens before I make an edjucated guess..

    thanks in advance..

Quite a good responce if you look at pic 2 you will see the ferry from NSH moored at the RoRo terminal. This is to pactice reversing long loads as they do in Italy & Greece

what I mean a ground model of a container ship with contactable surfaces to load containers on to.
Build big , where have you been if you search you will find thatI am currently have some of the biggest Wips so i dont have time for more.
build one myself read your own comment about my crane.
Finaly NSH has a good sized port other than the ferry where large size ships can moor,There was also a ship with containers , so maybe some one will make the surfaces contactable.
also all you can do with ships is sail from one port to another there are already ship sims that can do that.

But all in all your model is very good and well thought out using some of the newer actions to ror ,that takes some doing.

I had an Idea about an anchor.
Use set_node_defaults to make a node have very high resistance to the ground, and lower it on a rope. Or even have a frame lowered on a rope to serve as an anchor.
    Just my 2 cent's worth.

ok I see where you are getting at..
no need to swimm, if you can play around with a crane and containers for hours..
sounds cool too.. - I'm a overhead crane fan my selfe..
however - Im currently trying to work down my own project list - so I dont have time for that right now..

    about crane:
there is a tiny difference though - I asked about a crane that exists - obviousely..
you asked for a boat wich I dont have..
So - asking for your crane is not the same than giving me an assignment I dont want :-)
no offense ment - but there is indeed a tiny difference..
I have to settle with my original response - no time for that project..
    sorry
but if you reconsider the crane question - you wont regret it - the ocean will become a great map - at least for my taste..

that will work - I know, because I used a similar thing (high friction) for those extendable arms, I had on one of my offshorcrane-prototype..
It worked but was kind of clumsy..
I replaced them in current version with sidethrusters..
Im not sure how much the rope would allow to drift - after all it's bendable..
my guess is, to load containers still too much..

    Also:
I managed to get a harbour N/B-thing to works and added a controll tower..
you can tie ships, that are close enough to the pier, with hooks..

but it seems I ran into a bug there..
the ships that are tied, will deactivate after 5 seconds..
and if that happens, the hooks can no longer be removed..
as soon as you "un-hook" them, the vehicles explode and return to the spawn point..
    it's a pitty..
I guess it has something to do with water-dynamics, that hits a rather severe glitch there..

OK now I understand a little more ,the containers in you pics are of the older type and are picked up using ties/ropeables, ssso if you changed to the newer dne/fidoj type that lock with hooks that would mean us both changing our models to the hook setup' then ties/ ropeables could be used to moor the ships into the the foot of the crane, making it slightly easier to load/unload.is that the way to go.

My idea with the anchor was for holding it still, while doing other stuff, or maybe doing huge massive turns (Pirates of the Caribbean.)
This would be particularly useful for offshore cranes, as maneuvering whilst using a crane.

The Container ship Cargo-Princess floats horribly. It plunges down and fly back up just to move around the water. Lag is not a problem for me since I have 6 GB of RAM. Make it more sinkable since this ship is like indestructible.
