    Default Looking for a Netbook

Hallo, everyone. I have a niece that's looking at getting a netbook since she doesn't want a full sized laptop but something that fits her, so no more than 10.1 inches (she's in elementary school) and also doesn't want to spend more than $250-$300 She would also like something that can run RoR relatively well (since the Intel Atom isn't more than 1.86GHz, I know it won't be great) since I introduced her to that. She has here eye set on an Asus Eee PC 1005HA but doesn't know if that's the best for the money. Right now, it's either that, the Acer Aspire One, or the HP Mini 210-4000. Which one of these would be best? If there is anything better, please recommend it here.

    Netbooks ≠ decent ROR experience.
Forget the ASUS and the Acer, they both have a crappy Single-core Atom CPU, while the HP has a Dual-Core one which will increase usability a lot.
To play ror on a 10.1 Laptop, you need to spend way more money and get a high-end Subnotebook.

Thanks for the help, but I think all of them have the Intel Atom Duo Core. And my niece doesn't want to spend more than $300 so she's OK with not running RoR extremely fast. This isn't just for RoR, she'll be using it for web browsing and typing mostly.

I checked again, the Asus Eee PC uses the Atom N270 or 280 which is a singlecore while the Acer and the HP both have a Atom N2600 which is a dualcore.
With these netbooks, the question is not how well RoR will run, the question is if RoR 0.38 can be used at all.

I'm sure it can, though I'm not sure about how much RAM they have.

My friend had an Atom dual core notebook. Ror would run, but it was absolute shite. Running the daf semi on flatmap with all pre-spawned vehicles removed, maybe 10 fps looking straight down on the car. I highly recommend against running it on one. So, yes it runs. But even for the most patient of people, it is going to drive you nuts.

Is there anyway I could barely overclock it to 2GHz?

Why do you want to OC everything you can get your hands on. :| Tablets, now this? Instead of OCing, spend some damn money and get something that won't need it. Also also, just to let you know, most laptops won't OC. So good luck with that.

What you have mentioned are the specs of the HP dm1z-4200 notebook for 399$, but Rangerover184 asked about the HP Mini 210-4000 which has a Intel Atom processor.

Better don't try that. I don't know if it's possible at all (I doubt that), but in case it would work, you'd for sure fry your notebook. Overclocking requires aftermarket coolers, and you can't upgrade the cooler in a netbook. So it's really not a good idea.

I figured. But like I said, my niece's primary use will not be RoR, so not running it well should not be a problem to her. I just want to know what's the best netbook for the money.

I think we'll probably just stick with the Asus Eee or the HP. Any other suggestions?
