Default [now MESHED!] Volkswagen T3 Syncro

Some of you may remember that I have already made this car some time ago together with Silvermanblue (wip-Volkswagen-T3-Syncro-%28Mod-of-Trevors-highroof-van%29), but I have decided that it's time to rework this project because of I'm completely not more satisfied with the old one.

Here you can get a early version of my new Volkswagen T3 Syncro. It's a mid 1980s 4WD van with diff lockers at the front and rear and a tiny (1.6l) and not very powerful turbodiesel engine (70hp).
The weight as well as the measures, gear ratios, suspension concept etc. should be like the real thing, so please blame Volkswagen if you don't like its base concept

It can climb to the top of trial island without a problem and features basic deformation, good offroad abilities (for it's class, of cource it's no rock bouncer, heavy crawler or baja racer), openable doors and, as a little special, switchable stabilizer bars as well as what I've already mentioned above. Realistc behavior means also that it will break when you abuse it, so drive like you would do it with a real car.

    What is already done:
detailed and mechanically correct n/b (mostly )
    mesh wheels
    contactable submesh and contacters
    weight tuning (1.6t)

    ToDo list:
-Make a decent mesh (not just wheels) --> Will be done by Off-Roader
-make some custom sounds --> Already made some but I'll need more
    -more flares

Some more information about this car:
-Stock version is the "Volkswagen T3 Syncro 1.6TD 14' ", the "Volkswagen T3 Syncro 1.6TD 16' " is a lifted version with bigger wheels and modified bumpers for better ground clearance and greater attack angles.
-If you drive on the street, don't use the first gear, it's extremely low and only for offroading / heavy trailer towing.
-If you drive on the street, press L to engage the stabilizer bars and press L again to disengage them before going offroad for better flex. Currently, the sway bars are visible as yellow bars at the front and rear axle so it's easy to check if they are engaged or not.
    -Diff locks (front/rear): open/open, open/locked, locked/locked
-The hitch (it's invisible, but in the place a hitch belongs to) locks automatically onto a trailer, use ALT + L to unlock it. Only problem is that there are not many trailers to tow since most of them are too heavy.

After all this information, I would like to thank the beta testers from my group, they have helped me to improve some important points.

    ----------UPDATE----------

Removed the old Beta version after 385 downloads to upload a new one

Get the new beta version here!

    ----------UPDATE----------

Good news! Off-Roader is going to make a mesh body for this van so it will no longer look boring and unfinished!

if you want to make a realistic dash/interior (i'd do it but i suck at modding) i can look for some interior pics

Thank you, but before I can start modeling I have to learn AC3D. I have it laying around on my hdd for some weeks, but until last week I had to learn for my finals so I had no time. Now I just have to motivate myself to start learning.
Finding pictures of the interior won't be a problem, these cars were really common in Germany, many have been wrecked over the last years, but there are still enough left for reference. But thank you anyways.

good luck my friend, i am looking forward to the final results
when you get better at ac3d and stuff and continue making this van, i reckon this could be one of the best vehicles in ror
you could add animations, real physics and stuff and if you need me to i can test them for you cause i have a low and medium powered pc good for vehicle testing.

Good Luck and dont let it go dead

actually you could also make a more power model along side that van (no need for another model being made, using the model already there make an extra more powerful model)

Looks very promising, and is a great step up from the original. But the front suspension seems to be quite weak.

If I'm still motivated after finishing this model, I gonna make a version with a WBX6 six cylinder boxer engine with 3.2L or 3.7L engine displacement and 165-180hp / 260-300NM. Only problem is that this engine will kill the gearbox pretty soon since it was designed for a maximum torque of 200NM.

I have tried to make the unsuspended mass as light as possible, and therefore I had to make some parts relatively weak. Maybe I should add some kilograms and make it a bit more sturdy

Yeah, that would be cool. And I was testing the towing, it performs very well with my trailer unloaded, though it sags a little. But once you load it with a burnside, that's a whole other story.

The real one should be able to pull about 2.5 tonnes (which would result in a max. truck+trailer weight of over 5 tonnes with only 70hp!), but your trailer seems to add a lot of weight to the rear axle. Maximum weight on the hitch should be 100kg
Sadly it's not easy to give a car a realistic behavior in ror. When I give it so little torque that it accelerates in a resonable time unloaded, it won't even reach half of its topspeed loaded, and when I increase the torque then, it accelerates like a Ferrari when unloaded. Something is wrong with air drag / rolling resistance.

    Hey Creak
After i saw it many times on Random Screens im kinda in love with it
I love these old VW T models, and the T3 is a pretty nice generation of it.
After the N/B looks pretty good so far, it could need a mesh
It will be my favourite vehicle i think if it gets a nice mesh D
How cool would that be?! :D
