Well I figured it was time to make a thread for the modded T800s that I've been working on. I'm probably going to release the dump truck first with others following as I work on them.

    What's been done:

    *New realistic Dump bed mesh
    *Realistic Meyer plow mount
*added a more American Style pintle hitch
*changed the tires to ones that I made
*added a rear window to the cab
    *added an Under-tailgate spreader
*made the cab and hood skin-able
*added a Guid to the truck so that you can use .skinzips
*and a few other minor things that I can't think of right now
    Update as of August 9,2012
*Resized the cab to more realistic dimensions
    *added working n/b for spreader
*added hydraulic tank and cylinder mount
    *New Dump body
    *Wide front tires
*added Hendrickson Walking Beam suspension to the back

What still needs to be done:

*UV map and AO bake the rest of the truck and some more of the smaller plow parts.
*finish adding the working lift cylinder (still need to do the last stage)
    *finish the rear tires
*some other minor things to improve the truck
    * add a particle for the salt spreader on the back
*add air tanks and battery boxes
*add brake chambers on the axles
    *redo the front suspension
*tweak the rear suspension to fit the new meshes better
*and probably more that I can't think of right now

Possible other parts to be finished:
*Working Tarp arms and tarp cover for bed

I have made a 9', 10' and 11' Meyer Road plow, but the 9' is really small in front of the T800, so I am still debating on including it when I do release this.

Also most of these Pics are older so there may be some differences.

Also Credits to: Bigboy, the original creator of this truck.

you should release the truck if it finish it looks so cool great job

It'll be released when I'm done with it,

They are mesh wheels. And that's probably the best texture they're going to get, I've already spent 4+ hours on the front tires and almost as long on the rear ones, and I really don't want to have to re do them.

Thanks. And I might, not sure exactly how I could get the actual tarp part to look and/or work right though.

you think it could be the same part that lifts the bed but smaller?

What do you mean? I'm talking about the actual tarp, the part that covers the bed, the tarp arms would be relatively easy.

I don't mean that I don't know how they really work or look like, I mean as far as I know there really isn't a way to make it work/look correctly in game, i.e. to make it like sag in the middle and be able to disappear when you put the tarp up.

make like a n/b curtain with lots of little commands holding them together to open the tarp & 2 commands on the arm to close it...

Gimmie 5 mins, I will make a pic because its easier to show than explain.

I have had the idea a long time because i was going to make a curtain side trailer.

Here, You may want a row of nodes in the middle too & they would have to be tight when closed & hope its understandable

EDIT: Forgot to say the tarp would just be a submesh

It's not going to have an interior. I've said that before. And no mirrors with video cameras either.

I'm not into tow trucks, and I already have a bunch of projects to finish after this one. And there is no interior, so no need for a backup camera, and besides that none of our trucks irl have them, they're a waste of money. If you know what you're doing you can back up to a trailer first time. :P

I had an idea similar to that the other day, but I wasn't sure how I'd "make it solid" rather than just n/b.

And I'm not sure If I'm going to submesh the bed for this version or not. It's a snow plow truck mainly, and I'm not really planning on a version of the plow truck without a spreader, I'm going to make a plain dump truck version, without a plow and all that, and it will be, but I'm not sure about this one.
