Looking forward to it being compatible with other trains

Who said it would be :P I don't know what I'm going to do about coupling. Really, it would only ever couple to another Unit of itself, since it is an EMU.

I think that there should only be 2 coupling systems in ROR. It may not be realistic but it's practical since the amount of trains is very limited compared to RL. Choose whichever coupling system is closer in design to yours, BigBoys Bombardier or Sputnik_1's Henschel coupling system.

I think thats the way to do things, that way you can have multiple wagons on one train (like boxcars, tankers and flatbeds). Keep up the good work!

Well, the Highliners use a proprietary all-in-one coupling system which connects air hoses, electrical lines, and MU controls automatically. So you can't couple them to other cars without a drawbar or an adapter or something.

In practice, though, the actual node/beam structure for said automatic coupler would be identical to the couplers that BigBoy has made.

Question Re: Nippon Sharyo "Highliner" Bi-Level EMU (yes, another train :D)

So in short, IRL you can't but in-game you can but the mesh will be off?

hmm, ok. I will best copy BigBoy's then.

    Things coming along nicely...

(note that the second body is identical just rotated 180degrees. Seperate mesh for this body section will be made later.)

So this is self-powered but also useable as a passenger car?

The two carriage unit you see in the photos is self powered. Another two car unit will be made as a load, so you can simulate 2,4,6 or 8 car configurations as in real life.

So i can attach a non-powered load to the Bombardier ALP?

Ah, I don't think I made it clear.

In real life, this train is a self-powered EMU. It would never couple to anything other than itself. Simple enough.

But in RoR It will likely have the same coupling method as the ALP by BigBoy, so in theory you could connect them. However I don't want anyone to... as that would be stupid.
