Here's my first creation thanks to the philzilla video tuts. I'm attempting to make my riding mower for the game just because I love it soo much. Right now I just have the basic chassis as I'm slowly learning things as I go but I think the size is spot on. I've still got to work with the trans and gears to figure out what kind of settings it should have to be realistic and I'm also having problems getting the custom sounds to work as well which I describe in another thread. Once complete I will also be making my 10cubic ft dump cart to go with it!
Let me know what you think![]()
(Accord is for scale reference) Thanks for looking!
EDIT: Since I'm taking a break from the sound problem for now I thought I would star working on the dump cart for the mower. ..Now to figure out the fun part of making it have a command to "dump"..lol.
EDIT 11-14-11: 1.1 Beta Notes
1. Camera drifts away at high speeds
2. Engine sounds seem a bit high pitched (NO FIX - AS IS)
3. Deck wobbles alot (This will be addressed although if there's not a way to lessen without eliminating the sway then it will stay as is to give the illusion of a real riding mower.) (NO FIX - AS IS)
4. Gears need heavy tweaking (FIXED - The Speed is greatly reduced for realism in 1st gear on the Mower with Deck and Mower with Plow. If you're wanting to speed around use the mower with no attachments.)
5. Turning radius and turning speed on 2 mowers was about half of the third mower (FIXED)
6. Plow moves too far under mower, Needs limitation to stop once it hits ground. (FIXED)
7. Steering Wheel turns with wheels (FIXED)
8. Flares (FIXED)

Not a clue yet, Still looking up tuts and stuff. It seems blender is what I should go with due to the support there seems to be on the boards here, should I run into a problem.
Nice work! I could help with the sounds if you want.![]()

Thank youAs far as sounds go for now, I've got a few members that are specifying what I did wrong so I'm just waiting on replies from them. I'm trying to find out how to fix my problem and not have everyone else fix it for me
. I would like to learn from my mistakes but unfortunately this may mean that I have to ask step by steps on some things..lol.
you can find the thread with files here: Need-Help-with-my-sound-files-please
On another side note, Could someone point me or explain to me how I would go about being able to lock the swinging gate with "O"? I've been playing around with it but don't get any results. I've got 2 ropable nodes and two tie nodes but when I push "O" nothing happens to either.

I do have 3ds but after all the things I've read on the boards it seems more people use blender so I figured there was more support there.![]()
Darn. I thought I was going to make the first mower in ror. I have a mesh, but you already have an ingame n/b.

No worries, there's always room for mowers, lol. Besides, I'm sure yours will be 100x better than mine. I don't even know how to do the mesh yet. I'm still working on getting the darn sounds to work in game and getting the trailer gate to lock on command. So until I get those I'm officially at a stand still.![]()
it's so tiny well not that tiny :P
very nice

Thank youI've been messing around all day trying to learn to mesh and I don't think its for me.. I'm going to keep trying but I've almost hit the point of frustration..lol.
Haha who knows! This would be my first mower mod too. I'm making commercial mowers, just to get the landscaping business going in ror! I'm making a front mount mower now because I wanted to make an exmark zero turn (check out the thread) but it turned out too complicated!

Here's a small update/question. I wanted to show where I'm at in blender but also wanted to make sure I'm doing this correctly. Basically, in the 2nd pic I've got 2 planes. 1 being the Hood and the other being the Steering Column. Is it safe doing multi-planes to make the mesh or am I suppoesed to try and make the entire thing out of one plane?
Thanks for looking
EDIT: Well Blender crashed on me so I had to start over. Only thing that was saved was the hood... Here's my progress soo far though. I just hope I'm doing this right. Any pointers are very welcome at this point!
EDIT 2: The last 2 pics are of the progress as it sits. I'm off to bed now after a LOOOONG day of working in blender. Opinions welcome, Just remember, I'm still in the learning stages so things may not look as good as they can.![]()

Hello everyone. I've been working at getting my mesh into RoR and had somewhat success this morning...lol. I don't know exactly what is wrong here but even after scaling the mesh to the n/b frame in blender and then saving/exporting into RoR the mesh is HUGE! Another thing is, I'm not sure why but I can't see the faces of my mesh when in direct viewing of them (almost like it has backfaces only?...think I read that somewhere.) AND when I tried to apply color to the Mesh in blender it came out all weird in RoR...I'm in a really good mood to be honest though, This is the first mesh I've ever done and also imported into RoR.
Any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated at this point because I'm at a mental block and have absolutely no clue where to go next. Screenshot for laughs and for example of problem..
Thank you
Before you export press Ctrl + A in object mode and is should come up with a small menu, then you click on the top one and it should say apply scale and rotation or something like that and that should fix your problem.
