Default 1995 Seat Ibiza 1.4[DO NOT POST PICTURES OF YOUR UGLY MODS]

    Hello guys,
First of all, I'm new here, so I'm quite the noob with a lot of stuff in RoR. I'm 19 years old and I'm Dutch. I've been playing this game/sim for a long time now and before the 2011 summer holidays we had to make 'a car' with NURBS(somewhat very different from polygons). Many people in my class made Ferrari's and Audi R8's. I like to be different and made my real car, a 1995 Seat Ibiza 1.4. This model is probably the only mk2 Seat Ibiza model ever made, and I have made the exterior and nearly all suspension/underside parts in the highest detail I could achieve within the 2 or 3 months we had for these cars, of course, some components are missing(no windscreen wipers, no rubstrips etcetera) and the dashboard is quite literally 'crap'.We also had to make a polygonal conversion of these cars with less than 2k polys, body ONLY(no interior, no underside, no wheels). The low-poly model was made in Autodesk Maya 2011(as I have a student license) and then ported to Rigs of Rods via Blender.

So umm... After almost a year of work to make a higher poly model, the new model is available for download!

    Downloads!

-DO NOT POST PICTURES OF MODIFIED IBIZAS IN THIS THREAD-

    Download

Probably best to delete the old SeatIbiza zip since the parts use the same names, so also probably for the best to clear the cache and regen it(Not just regen, first clear it!), incase you're unluck something might mess up if you don't.

If you want to release a mod of this vehicle, you ask me via PM first. And 99% of the time it will be a big no because 99% of the mods are made with zero motivation, like someone just replaces the whole body texture including the numberplates and bumpers with a single color, rather than taking the time to actually change the color, leaving the trim parts in the right color... It demotivates me from updating this car or even working on different cars when you do this. As Gabester says, I really don't care when someone figured out how to put Monster logos on it and made it go 1500km/h, I don't want to see pics of it in this topic and I will report any "Hey look I made a paintjob and lowered it lololol" posts, unless I have given permission via PM in advance.

    Features: Ummmm....
    -Opening doors, trunklid, bonnet/hood
    -Dash and hood cams
-Lots of bits that fall off when you crash
-A very small engine(like it should be)
    -Foglights, controlled with ctrl+1
    -Things!
    -Now with flares
    -New sounds!
-9 different colors (configureable via truckfile editing)
-GTI Version with 2 liter 8v engine
    -A lot of polygons
    -A lot of beams
    -Stuff I forgot

Credits to Gavis_Bean for making the sounds, lots of thanks for that!

Many thanks to Auke1 and Gouranga for helping with the engine, CarBoy for pointing out that the foglights *did* work so now they work properly, and everyone else with everything else(no seriously, without everyone answering my many questions, this project wouldn't have ever finished!). Feedback, good and bad, is always appreciated!

    Enjoy!

looks great, textures could use some love and a a/o pass would look nice but you've got a nice little car there.

Thanks a lot guys. I will try the a/o baking although I haven't done it in a while in Maya, and never done it in Blender. I might just try and make some in Photoshop. Right now the body just has some red material with no textures, and the damage texture an edited one from another vehicle(as I'm not releasing it like this at all and only used it temporarily to see how all this works, I hope that's not seen as theft).

The model looks great. One suggestion I would give you is to redo your NB while it's not too far in. Gabester created an fantastic tutorial on how to make flexbody pieces for vehicles(bumpers, hoods, whatever). Read it through and consider deleting your body beams and starting over with more nodes. It looks as if the shape is fine so all you'd have to do is add more nodes basically. For example have the door divided into 3 segments instead of one huge piece.

Wow thanks a lot guys! I didn't think this would get so much attention! I have already read through that tutorial and redid the hood and bumpers accordingly so that functions like it should at the moment, but thanks for the advice anyway Oxsergy

My next step will be to remake the whole underside so it acts correctly, rather than having a simple body-shaped box... After that, I'll try and sort out/remake the bodywork properly. I'm also planning on making the bodypanels that I know are seperate on the real car, also detachable ingame. That would include: front fenders, doors, maybe splitter, the metal panel under the front bumper, tailgate, side mirrors, maybe some windows, headlights, taillights, and probably some other rubber strips and random bits and pieces I can come up with.
(I've taken apart my real car quite a lot while repairing it when it got tipped on the side/vandalised during the Dutch Carnaval, that's also how I got enough reference from the underside of the car)...

That would be quite hard though, as I would, for example, want to make the front splitter more rubbery like, so it doesn't deform as easily, while it would require a lot of nodes in a small area too. Might be way too much work for me to 'ever' finish as I still need to make the interior and engine bay... (I'm not looking forward to making an engine/engine bay, as I'm really OCD on making it match the real thing...)

I'll post some pics of the real life car too, might work a bit on the RoR version this evening.

EDIT: Added a new picture to the first post

I could help you a little with the engine, I did some research and looks like the ratios would be 3.88, 3.769 1st, 2.087 2nd, 1.324 3rd, 0.977 4th, 0.975 5th, 0.814 6th. I needed something to do for 10 minutes so there you go lol. Looks great so far
    especially for first RoR vehicle.

Hmm, I will try using those ratios... Currently I got it at exactly the same speed I reach in my real car(152km/h) with torque on only 300... I'll try yours, give me a second

EDIT: That can't be right. Ibiza's never came with a 6-speed...

If you are using Blender 2.49, you can import node/beam, modify and export it. so you can place shocks and so on precisely. http://www.rigsofrods.com/wiki/index.php?title=Blender_Nodes_and_Beam_Plugin&redi rect=no

    Y
ou will need to fine tune with notepad, at least nodes, beams and submesh, can be exported easily.

Awesome! I'm for pre-release, or at least pictures of the rear suspension n/b. McPherson strut is possible. I've never made one but I've heard the best way is to use slide nodes. I'll try it when I begin with making n/b for a WRC car.
