Maybe because all the creators are tired of stupid mods made by noobs. Or maybe the fact that people claim stuff thats theirs when really its not. Or maybe their tired of the "Crappy" sketchup models taking over the forum. Or the overwhelming aholes that have been on here lately.

And notice I said crappy sketchup models. Those good models by sketchup modellers are ok.

    Just saying. :/

It's going slow because A) There are idiots all over this place that go "COOL WNE IS IT GOIN TO BE RELES?!?!" and B) When it is released, people will indefinitely butcher the creation apart putting a bunch of crap onto it that isn't needed.

In short, the content is coming out slow because of noobs.

I delayed my projects for two reasons...

Number One REASON: Blazer getting used all over the forum in ugly mods mainly my wheels.

Number Two REASON: I just moved...

and a third.. trying to make it so my meshes wont be as easy to modify... cause now in getting lousy PMs saying can you do this to your blazer.

But most of all its the kids out there spamming instead of clicking a simple thanks button when an update is made..( there should be a kudos button)

Elitist? No, he's just telling the truth. Not going to bother to write this out again as dmtactical said it best.

The models created are meant only to be static, and used for photographic previews. On the contrary, a gaming environment is all about motion, experience, and drawing the player into the action. Gaming models need detailed geometry, texturing and lighting in order to provide a good experience. Sketchup is not designed to handle any of these things. They can be done, because Sketchup uses the same fundamental principles as any modeling program, but it is not worth anyone's time to use Sketchup for game production.

If you want to make architecture or maybe large industrial structures (Tampa Powers is good at this) it can be a decent program. But you still run into difficulties with textures and lighting, which are critical elements for gaming models.

Take some time to learn an animation/gaming oriented program and you will be blown away by how much faster you can create the same models, with textures, materials and lighting, than in Sketchup. It's worth your time to learn a new program, the time it takes is miniscule compared to the time saved by using a program built for the task at hand.

I'm not trying to rip on Sketchup itself, it is a good program. I'm just trying to explain fundamental differences between modeling programs. When you understand how Sketchup was created with different intentions than other programs, it's easier to understand why we have technical issues with using it in this environment.

You know what? I'm really getting sick and tired of seeing you modders get all worked up over other users copying and hacking your mods. Seriously, get over it. Stop with the damn stupid drama of "delaying" or "cancelling" the release of your mods just because a bunch of idiots PM'ed you about it, begging for it or something like that. Set some guidelines, ignore certain or all requests pertaining to your mods. Just do what you do, release what you feel comfortable giving to the public, and just leave it at that.

Rigs Of Rods is an open-source project. OPEN SOURCE. That means someone could copy it and modify it however they want. If you cannot accept that your mods can be done in the same way as well, GET OUT.

Exactly, since it's open source they have every right to withhold their projects if they feel like it. You don't like it? Too bad, it's open source.

I was behind most your points in the other thread, but it seems like you have conflicting opinions.

    Bowser -
And the content... man... it's so embarrassing and lackluster! For every decently-made vehicle or map, you have hundreds of poorly-designed mods which just confounds me as to how they even got approved. The forums are even worse. There's always some vapid and insipid kids on here posting about pointless stuff, asking for help on the simplest things, and whatnot.
You make a big point about the crappy mods that get released by the hundreds, yet bitch at modders for getting worked up about those very mods..... Ironic much?
