I cant believe it is your first one
Congrats man !
Hey,
I know some say there is an unwritten rule about not uploading your first RoR creation however, I am not one for convention.
I'd just like to mention from the start that there are credits due to other people. Thanks to :
Lenni: for the use of his wheel rim and fuel tank meshes
Box5diesel: for his Cummins engine mesh
Fat-Alfie: for allowing me to use his steering wheel
Simp: for his tyre texture
All credits for such creations go to their respective original authors, not me.
I'd also like to say that whilst the trucks work well, they are not as polished as I would have liked them to be. I'm uploading them now as I don't have time to properly tweak them.
The trucks were designed using a very simple box chassis which was never intended to be anything other than a test bed for learning. However, as things progressed and I started playing around with various settings the chassis began to resemble some form of functioning truck. I then decided to add meshes etc and turn it into a buggy of sorts. There are three models:
'Baby Blue' - is a trail truck, with fairly realistic driving characteristics.
'Rocksnorter' - is designed as a crawler. There are two models; one with, and the other without, rear wheel steering.
'Goblin' 500 - is the racing buggy
Baby Blue and Rocksnorter are both equipped with an anti-stall system. This is more of an aid in the Baby Blue and will not completely stop the vehicles from stalling: I designed it that way. The Rocksnorter, with its much lower gearing, is rather difficult to stall: again that was my intention. This means that you can approach a climb, lock the diffs, stick it in first and watch it climb. Emphasis is on 'watch' here. I wanted to create a truck I could move around, zoom in and out etc without having to worry about throttle control/stalling: sort of like taking on the role of a spectator rather than driver.
The Rocksnorter has been risen slightly for extra ground clearance and the suspension settings are relaxed to give maximum maneuverability. The Goblin 500 has a more aggressive suspension setup than either of the other models. The track has been widened and it sits lower to the ground. Because of the 'squareness' of the tyre footprint it can be a bit of a handful to drive. It is also fitted with shift lights (thanks to Lifter and Miura for helping me out there) which you need to activate first by pressing CTRL+1, and regular driving lights.
Engines are the same in both the Rocksnorter and Baby Blue, producing 250hp and 845lb ft. The Goblin 500 has, you've guessed it, 500hp and 1850ish lb ft. All values are accurately represented in-game. I've also tried to keep the weight realistic at around 4ish tons. From what I've read the engine (Cummins QSM) weights 945kgs dry, so add on all the drivetrain, wheel, chassis, etc and you get close to 4 tons.
If you give them a go let me know if there are any bugs, there shouldn't be, and I'll get them fixed before I upload to the repository.
EDIT: You should be running RoR version 38.24, or greater, for all the features to work.

its awsome!![]()
life is hard. it's harder when you're stupid-john wayne
I find it REALLY hard to believe that this is your first creation. It looks way too good to be. Great job! This is really good work.![]()

Awesome Frankenstein mobile (because use of other meshes etc.)Hope you have many more creation in the future
Those look amazing!! I'll test them tommorow.
Chuck Norris doesn't get hit by cars. Cars get hit by Chuck Norris.
Finally someone who uploads a really working vehicle that also looks nice as first mod!
It's a really nice crawler, but imo the time until it accelerates again is a bit long,
I think it's the postshifttime. I see that it is useful if it doesn't hit full throttle at once,
but sometimes when you drive up a hill and try to shift then the rpms drop so much
that you can directly shift down again.
Think before you post!
Truck_Description_File ^ what you need for modding
It's strange seeing someone else driving or taking pictures of the trucks. It's nice to see people are enjoying them.
JCB: Nice video, thanks for making it. Did you take out the engine or was it like that when you installed?
Lenni: I'll take a look at what you said over the weekend. How steep was the hill out of interest?
Anyone found any bugs?
P.S. You should be running .38.24 or later for all the functions to work. I'll update the first post.
Suspension could benefit from less rebound and the split and open diffs are not really helping the cornering :S
Still a great vehicle, next do not use nodes and beams for the cage, mesh a cage - saves fps![]()
Have a nice day!
