    Default Greece - Hills

This is a small terrain I made in order to stress test my objects' collision meshes and also as a test-run of a possible Greek terrain to be made in the future.

    * * * * * * * *

Thanks to everyone who's helped me and others out over the years, I and probably many others couldn't have done it without you

All textures and objects were made by me using photographs taken by myself and you have my permission to use, edit and re-release them for free Rigs of Rods projets, provided you credit me, LJFHutch.

    I hope you enjoy it!

    On the repo.

Ha first going to try it now. Wow this is a really intricate crawler coarse. Any future down loaders should be warned that this is a Crawler only map.

Quite true silvermanblue, I also have a challenge for anyone up for it:

In the 1980 Toyota Long/Flatbed Flex-Tyre climb to the top of the marked hill while remaining within the highlighted area and shifting no higher than 1st gear - I haven't made it yet, I got just before the very final rock.

And if you can't do that (not sure whether it's actually possible, what's the "worst"/lowest gear/non-locked diffs you've made it up said hill in?

At first, I have to say that this is a very good map, lots of fun!

And it is possible to make it up in the toyota, all you need is momentum.
you can just put in in 3rd and floor it, this will give enough momentum to drive over the rocks.

But, the challenge was to do it in 1st gear...
the top speed in 1st gear is very low, so you got only little momentum, so you need to search for grip, wich is hard with no locked differentials because the wheel(s) with little pressure (grip) are the only ones spinning.

    But, I've made it:

This is pretty sweet man. Using the bobbed Deuce and fairly quality optimized settings I had a steady 21-29 FPS (on my POS laptop) which is not much of a difference than what I get on the mountains of Desert Trails for example. You're using very precise collision meshes, correct? I didn't notice any strange areas/protrusions/potholes like on some of the meshes on D-Trails and as I said before, no drop in performance either.

The trail itself is quite challenging too and I thouroughly enjoyed it. The Deuce had a hard time in a few spots but with some gentle feathering, balanced with insane throttle smashing, I got it through.

I love the overall look of the land also. It practically mirrors the preliminary sketches and looks exactly like a Greek offroading trail (at least how I imagine it). I think I may have a new 'photoshoot map' for offroad vehicles now, also . As with all your other work I'm certain it will be a blast when it's finished!

Awesome terrain man. It's tiny, but lots of fun. The way you can feel every bump on the track is just amazing. Also, some feedback: I get fairly decent FPS with the 1980 Yota Longbed Flex-Tires, running RoR on all max settings.

    Thanks for the feedback guys

Adam, did you fall through the ground or the "ground"? Most of the background mesh won't collide, only the actual terrain and other objects.

Yeah you're already off the "real" terrain there, engage free-cam with shift+c and fly up, the terrain should be pretty visible although if you don't have grass that might make it slightly harder. Look for where the texture drops right off in quality also. Everything outside of the main terrain is just for show really, so it doesn't look quite so much like you're on a floating brick in the sky xD

Hmm, that was some old problem that used to happen on the very early .37 to .38 betas, which has been fixed. Also Kristian told me the fix for that when it happened to me once, but I dont remember it anymore. :/
