    Question 30t mobile non-slewing crane

this is very much a beta, I'm releasing this to see what people think about the steering (force feedback), I'm looking for comments and ideas regarding the steering, and all other parts.
Please if you wish to use any parts from my vehicles ask me and/or at least put my name in the credits,
I want say no unless you've already broken my/my friends trust.

All so i have attached a loads zip with 7 loads in it. the pipe stack has a weight of 10,000 i used it for testing and just left it.

in the screen shot with the car on the wooden pallet the car isn't attached to the pallet the crane is. its a catch 20-2 u can only attach one it makes lifting things more fun anyway

as most people are aware some vehicles especially the older ones have very high weight to counter beam instability,
Box5diesel 1980 Toyota Flatbed 4x4 (flex-tires) weighs 3536 i think that is very high for a vehicle, i would have to check the weight in game but to take into consideration the wheels as well 4236 for total weight where as in real life the toyota would weigh in total including wheels 2.2 max there is a great increase

I like it, although im not a big fan of front end loader steering (forgot what it is called), just my opinion

It drives really well, lifts objects like it should, love the loads, like the roundness of the cab. It is hired!

    Nice little thing!!

    Some ideas:
    1. You can add shocks to the steering to prevent it from swinging, I tested it on another articulated vehicle and it works very well.
    2. The boom should be a bit strengthened like craneman said, at least sideways because it swings like if it was made of plastic (no offense, simulating booms stiff as steel is difficult in ror, but a good set_beam_defaults will almost do it). Maybe he can help you with that .
    3. Maybe one more extension? "Pick & carry" cranes in this size can for sure handle two moving extensions without problems.
    4. Either you should remove the hookpoint from the hooks, or only have one node in the hook. The hooknode will only keep hooking to the other node next to it in the hook.

    Hope it helps
Please DON'T ask me to help you with projects or do anything for you. I've taken a little pause and I don't actually make things for others either.

    Nice model!

Articulated steering in RoR is quite a difficult thing, especially for keyboard users
because the steering goes back to center itself which is very bad when the arm is extended.

On this crane it works quite well though, but I think the whole thing shakes a bit much,
with a bit harder beams it should be fine.

The best thing about this is the loads, nice ideas and nice quality of them,
I didn't test all of them yet, but for example the elephant needs contacter nodes so it can be loaded on a truck, then it would be really great for hauling.
    Think before you post!

i have re-worked some things, and added manual command steering as well for the keyboard users f1-f2 it needs some work it turns to far atm.
    commands are
f1-f2 manual steering with press once and return to center
    f3-f4 boom lift
    f5-f6 rope
    f7-f8 extend the boom

can some one respond on the reflectiveness of the materials as I have changed them, as well with re-doing the normals.

    @fidoj:

Cool andfun to play with vehicle.

    i would recommend 2 improvments:

    add this:

    Code:
    shocks
    13, 48, 1, 75000, 1, 1, 1, i
    53, 44, 1, 75000, 1, 1, 1, i
    14, 70, 1, 75000, 1, 1, 1, i
    15, 71, 1, 75000, 1, 1, 1, i
    and this before the beamssection:
    Code:
    set_beam_defaults 30000000, 500, 10000000, 60000000

Improves the handling and steering setup a bit imo.
