Trail Island - offroad fun!

Hi all.

I present here a new project that comes to an end, so I might release quite soon. It's a very small island but very detailled with trails in it.

Amazing textures, amazing models, it's all just so amazing when blended together. Just wish RoR had some shadow system for objects, and maybe some better lighting effects, but that ought to come soon. I still love the helipad you modeled + textured. Here are a few suggestions for buildings: oil rig, power plant, chemical plant, some old warehouses, military watch towers, a collapsed bridge somewhere, metal bits lying around, sort of make it look like an industrial wasteland. Looks very swell though.

I have a tip for the video, combine WASD with Keyboard Arrows for smooth effects. With the mouse it sort of looks choppy, unless that is what you were intending for.

Great map + video! Can't wait for the finished product.

lilgti: FPS not that bad. I choosed a low amount of textures for alpha-splatting and there is not that much vegetation (it's not a forest). It features an FPS version too, without alpha-splatting that does not look awful so far. I still have to optimize textures sizes and format and to add LOD's to the complex objects (quite boring task) and it should improve the framerate.

dieselSmoke and Zsolti: no mud in this one, there is no real point to put mud in there, there is not mud everywhere ;-) But be sure I have other maps that I'll release featuring A LOT

Fatkid: I think you have the caps lock on, it looks like you shout... And no, this is a brand new map. European forest (if that's the one you're refering too) is just abandonned project as I tried with pagedGeometry and even like that the FPS is still far too low. No compromise enough --> to the bin

Buttlamo: Nice objects suggestions, but not for this map. I like its quite natural look. Thanks for the advice with arrow keys, I will use it and thanks also for your vid on cam views otherwise I wouldn't have been able to record this video.

Tatanovitch: FRAPS + windows movie maker and a fair amount of time selecting and arranging the vids ;-)

Is that a glimpse of hope. I sure hope so. Glad to see you continueing to create amazinf works of art for RoR. Cant wait for this map and the other maps you are speaking of.
