wonderful truck!
Released here, updated version:
MAN TGX
How to fit the jib:
- Spawn the jib and the truck
- Drive the truck next to the jib and move the arm into the right position
- Get out of the truck and enter the jib
- Lock the jib to the truck, the truck can't lock to the jib
- Remember the command buttons: CTRL+ALT+F7-F10
- Get out of the jib and enter the truck again
- You can fold the jib together with the crane on the truck
PDN files for easier skinning are attached here.
Next version:
Semi with crane.
It misses hydraulic rams and axle meshes, and the crane hook of course, other than that it's pretty much done.
It lifts about 8 tons all the way to the side, to the back it lifts 15 tons all the way out.
With the boom retracted it can lift over 25 tons, the problem is that the truck tips over with too much load,
the crane doesn't break.
I'll work on the other versions step by step now.

That look so great Lenni, can't discribe it.
You should put that on the scania to.![]()
Wow Lenni, words can't describe your work. I have been trying for ages to make a crane like that Palfinger, my problem is that it lifts of the center of the rotator thus beeing very unstable. I am truly looking forward to seeing how you made it around this problem, might be that I can get some inspiration
is it for 35 of 36

Truck cranes usually don't have cables but only the hook in the end of the boom.Originally Posted by alex belg

I feel I have to correct you there. Depending on the size of the crane it is actually quite common to have a winch on it. This makes the crane more versatile. Seeing as this is a Palfinger 44002 and therefore one of the bigger palfinger models, I think it would be realistic to say that it in real-life would have a winch (it is of course entirely up to Lenni whether or not his version features one).Originally Posted by sveinovewest
I on the other hand have to give Sveinovewest credit, because it is true that the main use of a crane like this is to use the hook at the end of the boom. The winch is mainly used to turn ie. building blocks of prefab houses or such. How I know all this about this crane, well I operated one for about a year or so, so I am looking very much forward to this version of the wonderfull TGX.
Totaly right, they are there but they isn't so often in use.
Found a picture of a crane using the winch:

Here is a picture of the winch on a palfinger:

Not very normal to see the winches in use around here.
Sorry for the off topic.
that looks very good
i must say a truck crane has only a hook no cable
when thay have a cable there are than two hooks
one hook on a cable and the orther on the crane itself.
i think the boom can hold the weight only the winch not.
mayby because a weight on a cable that swings alot can brake or tip the crane over
but mayby stupid idea
is it possible to give is contra weight, this is not in real live but it stable the crane alot.
correct you are. On a palfinger the cable is usually stored at the winch drum when the cable is not in use, and thus the crane uses a hook mounted on the tip of the knuckleboom. The winch can naturrally not support the same weight as the main hook but it is strong enough to support a considerable weight. (please let me know if i am getting to much out of track with this line of posts).Originally Posted by trucker0werner
You are right about that. The winch is only made for support, such as lifting up chains/straps which you later on will hang on the main hook, so the winch is not made for general lifting.Originally Posted by cadillac84

And yet again you are wrong.
The winch on a knuckleboom can be used to lift very heavy things......not just straps.
Do as I say.......NOT like I do.
