Guys he's leaving the forums! Stop the press, now!
And we don't care if you leave. Your head is so far up your arse from you supporting Alienware and wanting to waste money. And it seems cheesy that you can buy a laptop but can't build your own PC? And also your supposedly buying a laptop and you can't spell.
anyone know of a good gaming laptop that can run gta iv, minecraft, ror, gta eflc, and stuff like that, and thats UNDER $900, that is a more known brand such as hp, compaq, gateway, dell? and also for people who are going to be jerks about it saying things like, " i told you you wouldnt be able to get alienware or something like that, im just going to ifnore you, so theeres no point in posting it

Hello all, as it seems my 5850 has bit the dust. I suppose it's time for me to get a new card. Although, I am a little behind the times in this area. Could anyone recommend a card that would handle 1080p at a good clip?
Budget is about 320$. (Not including shipping, that doesn't need to be factored in) ATI/AMD is preferred, but I could go green if it is a good enough deal. I will also be oc'ing it a wee bit, so non-reference coolers would be a nice thing to have.
If any of you gentlemen can help me with but one of these aspects it would be greatly appreciated so I can get my rig up and running again (No backup card to use for the time being) Cheers!

$310 and free S&H $289.99 after rebate! XFX is a great company and had great support.

I paid $350 for this card 2 months ago lol Handles anything and I can't even hear the fans.
Good tools cost money, cheap tools cost more.
Well, on Newegg.ca there is no free shipping, and the rebate would have been expired by the time I got the card, lol. For around that same price I have however been eyeing up this Gigabyte card. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16814125418 Would you say this is a reputable company? I have heard many good things about this cooler too. Very curious to see what difference this new architecture has against the old in the 5850. Power usage should be lower most definitely, my old card sucked the juice down like no tomorrow.
Edit:
Not entirely sure if my old card is dead. I can hear/see the fan running on it. And windows boots up all fine and dandy (Judging from the audio) but it doesn't display a picture. I've tried the DVI, HDMI, and display ports with my monitor and none of them displayed a picture. All power cables are secure. And I've also tested it each of the different pci slots. No dice. I did think that maybe I had bricked it with flashing a 5870 bios on it, but after doing that, it had been able to reboot successfully about 3-4 times until the picture failed to show up. And I don't have an extra (working) card to get into windows and re-flash it with.

*Just for the record, I giggle a bit every time I read the threads name*
The raptor pony MK IV is slowly nearing its end after 7 years of service, heating problems and compatibility with modern software is slowly becoming an issue.
We have a new PC planned which we will be buying when finances even out,but I need help choosing an SSD,motherboard and cooling.
For the main hard drive we have a Seagate Barracuda 2TB, but thats for other files, we just need a standard SSD for the OS.Can anyone recommend a good one?
For cooling, I need something that can keep an i7 2700K and a GTX 680 under reasonable temperatures.
For the mobo, which high end mobo would anyone recommend?

Does your CPU have any integrated graphics cards you can use?

I Forget about other countrysGigabyte is a great company too. I think HIS company isn't very good.
The 5850 has an 800mhz GPU clock and the 7870 has a 1ghz clock and 2GB of RAM, which is great.
Also the new AMD cards have Zero idle or something like that. uses very little power when idle and internet stuff.
Heres a review of the XFX 7870, although it is the black edition, which is just a little overclock http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1967/1/
Good tools cost money, cheap tools cost more.
SSDs: Intel, Samsung, Crucial, Plextor, Corsair come to mind. OCZ might be good now but I'd prefer to go with any of the other brands I listed.
Cooling: NH-D14 is good, as is an H100 with better fans like the Corsair SP120s. Blower style graphics card coolers only really need cool air to the blower as the hot air is exhausted out the back, so a front 120/140mm fan blowing directly onto the graphics card will keep the 680 comfortable.
Mobo: ASUS and Gigabyte are good, as is MSI. From MSI, the Z77A-GD65 is a high end Z77 Mobo, and ASUS's P8Z77-V/PRO are good too. A similar offering from Gigabyte is the GA-Z77X-UD3H. Really, you want to look at the features of each motherboard and see which ones only that board has, then buy the board with the features that you think you'll need most.
Maybe if you do want to go green, you can get the 660ti if it comes out soon. http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/486...ew/index9.html
Looks like it will be quite a bit faster than the 7870, dunno about power consumption but this time Nvidia's highest end cards have been more efficient than AMD's and I've seen rumored prices at $200-300. This might be something to think about, or not.

Anyone have opinions on the Asus G53SX-NH71?
I'M ALLERGIC TO BS
I haven't had any problems with the Vertex 3 I popped into my pc, but that's not saying much since I never owned an old OCZ SSD.
Just throwing this word out there. The XFX GPU's have a double-lifetime warranty. Best I've ever seen. And to whomever mentioned that HIS is crap. I agree. I've hard so many problems with my HIS 6750.
