My computer needs a graphics card would a small form factor 128 meg card work in a dell optiplex gx270 sff
computer specs: dell optiplex GX270 pentium 4 2.40 ghz hyperthreaded 2 gigs of DDR ram, intel onboard graphics 96 megabytes
Quick tech question:
I understand the whole deal with refresh rates and so on but does anyone have any idea why many things give us the option of 59Hz as well at 60? What does the 1Hz difference affect?
I before E, except in my username, apparently.
Hmm, maybe some old CRT monitors or television sets have 59Hz refresh rates, and they don't support the protocol that tells the graphics adapter what the monitor is capable of, so you have to set it manually? Maybe an extra measure to stop screen tearing with vsync by dropping a frame/sec? Those are my two guesses.
Core i5 2400 | 8GB RAM | MSI GTX670 PE | ASUS P8P67-M PRO | Samsung HD103SJ, Crucial M4 128GB | OCZ ZT750 | Bitfenix Shinobi
i have heard of intel, and fyi, the only good thing intel makes are proccessers, the best of all brands proccesser wise, but graphics card wise, might as well just not play games, and ill stick with hdd's thank you very much, as ssds are way to expensive, if im going to buy something expesnive computer wise it shall be an alienware m17x, and dont tell me to build my own computer or whateever as IM NOT GOING TO, id rather just pay the extra money even though most of it is the alienware brand

You obviously don't know the difference between good and what YOU want. Saying that processors are the only good thing they make is not implying their GPUs are rubbish Just because they're designed for people who want cheaper computers and don't use their computers for gaming doesn't mean that they're no good, just because it's not what you like. You're getting your words confused.

For my new PC,I'm not sure weather to get an i7 3770k or an i7 2700k,I do plan to overclock the card.
Any advice

Good tools cost money, cheap tools cost more.
All your getting is flashy lights......
They're not crap, yes, but you can get either the same computer for a lot less money, or a computer that costs the same and is fathoms ahead in terms of performance.
Instead of constantly being on the defensive and complaining about things, at least TRY and take the time to research building a computer. It's simpler than you think.

id rather have alienware, and i DO know that it be better to just build my own, but im only 13 and my parents wont exactly let me do that, and i do know that theres better out there, but they only trust more known brands such as hp, compaq, dell, and alienware, and id rather get the alineware right now, and if i have trouble with games running, then fine, but i shouldnt as ive watched a cromphensive alienware m17x review that showed 2 of the games ill be playing at max setting on an alienware m17x, and it had a much better fps then i have now, so its good enough for me, and idc about the price, as at least it has a DECENT (i did not say best) grahpics card, so i can play most modern day games at full settings, such as gta iv, which is one of the games from the review i was talking about:
| i7 3770K | ASUS Maximus V Gene Z77 | HD 7950 | SS M12II 650W | Corsair H100 w/SP120's | Corsair C70 | 16GB RipjawsX |
Their laptops are good. I think, havent kept up with laptop stuff lately. heres some reviews.

You will pay too much for that, alienware is for people that have sticks up their arses. The links down yonder are some great laptops and you can't beat the price. I have the GT-60 and I'm glad to say I love it. I can help you out with optimus too.

The 70 the exact same thing as the 60, but bigger screen and smaller hard drive.
You will save your mom a good 500 dollars by doing this. UNLESS you are a jackass who thinks money grows on trees.

If I was you I would go with asus they have the new 660m and beat the snoot out of alienware and for more you can get the 670m. Not to mention its a fraction of the price for better hardware.
