No, i5 2500K need a LGA1155 socket, and your mobo' is a LGA1156.
Processor upgrade information
Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:
Intel Core i7-8xx (Lynnfield core)
Intel Core i5-7xx (Lynnfield core)
Intel Core i5-6xx (Clarkdale core)
Intel Core i3-5xx (Clarkdale core)
We Will Never Forget 3615

Well, if you want that specific CPU, then you have to get a new motherboard. Take a look at my signature, I have a quite decent motherboard for the money that is an 1155 socket. Plus it has 3 PCI slots with a good amount of space for another card. If you want to keep your motherboard, you have to get an 1156 socket CPU, such as this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115221 or this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115220
It's basically up to you, keep the motherboard or keep the CPU you want. IIRC the Clarkdale doesn't get as good of performance, but still would be a great gaming chip.
Got the new cooler in, and going to hopefully order 4 more of these Sickleflows sometime to get the whole case to be matching with Green LED's. With this setup I'm getting 35C idle and 50C running Prime95 for 6 hours. Now I have to get new LED's for the front, rear exhaust and side case. Then an SSD and I'm done modding this babes out.![]()
Any 120mm fan works with this cooler. And it has a bracket to place another one on it. Only reason why I went with my Sickleflows is because they are HAWT. :P
Just don't use the thermal paste it comes with.. It's crap. I reapplied some Arctic Silver and my temps went down about 5C. The stuff they give you is almost a really thick motor oil. 30C idle, 45C when gaming and 50C when running Prime95. Never gotten above 50C with this ever since I replaced the thermal paste.
So I'd say this cooler is quite a bit better, here are 2 comparisons. Before and after, all running Prime95 for the exact same amount of time.
*stock cooler is the first pic, my 212 evo is the second

Looks awesome. As for SSDs, I'd take a look around for the reliability/warranty of the SSD over anything else. You will notice a huge improvement in performance with any current-gen SSD. I got a 60GB low-end SATAII Sandisk Ultra SSD for a spare computer and it blows away my bro's HDD-based PC which has probably twice the CPU performance. Reliable manufacturers I think are: Intel (Custom firmware that is very stable, makes own NAND), Crucial/Micron (They make their own NAND/Controller, also nice firmware updates that bring performance increases), Samsung, and then all the companies that use run-of-the-mill SandForce controllers/firmware.

I've found something that is a testament to Dell durability.
I was looking through my basement and I found my old black work laptop, a Dell Latitude CP from 2001. It'd been hit around by my nieces and nephews, was missing several keys and what I think is the battery, and looked ragged out. I found the charger too and, for the Hell of it, plugged it up. And, to my amazement, it booted and RAN. It was slow as Hell, I mean it had a Pentium MMX at 2.33MHz and 128MB of RAM. But it connected to the Internet and worked.
I'm in awe.
