What diesel engine do you like? Cummins VS Cat VS Detroit.

out of the 3 motors i would choose the Cummins but i'm an International man by heart. i grew up working on the 6.9 and 7.3 indirect injection motors as well as the first gen 7.3 Powerstroke. although the 6.4 was the last motor they made for Ford, Ford worked with IH to build the new 6.7 psd but instead of IH making it in their plant, Ford produces it now but the design is still based on IH's. the 6.0 was junk if you didn't do head studs and EGR delete but that was worked out for the 06 and 07 models. but for the Cummins, the 6BT was the best motor they made for light and medium duty trucks. supposingly Cummins is supposed to release the new 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder V-configured engines next year. Can't wait for them to be released

Ford completely designed and built the 6.7 in house. Navistar had nothing to do with it.

I fixed it for you. And yes, an inline 6 in a Ram. Because that's how you make torque, and follow the K.I.S.S. method.

Cummins generators aren't so bad... but there is always another option, like Kohler, not generac, thats laughable...
I would go detroit (chevy's duramax right?) before cummins in a truck though.

Chevy uses the Duramax. Detroit Diesel hasn't been in the pick-up market for decades.

It was, but now starting with the LML I believe, GM bought the bluprints and has started building the D-max inhouse.

Out of the pre-emission regulated engines; pre 2003, Duramaxes, in my experiance and in the experiances of people I know were the engines that would fail more more often. I can't say in regards to the newer engines because they are all garbage in my eyes, whether it's Yellow, Red, Green or Silver.

For example, I'll take a 3406a 425 Cat over a C15 550 Cat, hands down. I don't think any manufacturer really got the emissions control systems perfected.

Meh. I like all D-max up till and including the LBZ. After that is when emissions started. Eric Merchant had an 06 LBZ come in that had 990,000, yes you read that right, on it and had never had the valve covers off. I was impressed.

Then I said muff it. I'll keep my '05 Acert a little longer, then start looking for an '03 non-acert 379. I want nothing to do with these emissions control systrms

Yeah, I'm glad this '07 9900 we got now is a Cummins. And not the '07 ACERT that got sold out from under him... So much simplier...

I guess he means RPM which is odd, because if i'm not mistaken Cummins generally has torque at a higher RPM than Detroit series 60, Mercedes whatever-the-muff, or Cat. Nothing wrong, just how they run.

Perhaps he is referring to 2-strokes, which come from a time when all motors had to be revved high to get any power.

Then again, judging from the grammar and exclamation marks in his post, he is a moron, so meh.
