I wanted a rock-crawler with live-axles, diff-housing and the shocks not mounted on the wheel-node, but I didnt have a body for it. So I decided to stick the axles and suspention under the Daf Semi. That presented another problem: the top-heavy body would fall over. Fixed that with left and right independant hydrolics: they wheel/axle can move up, but downtravel is limited to the lenght of the hydrolics (commands) - if you get stuck, play with the hydrolics, which may help - it is possible to flip the axles when landing from a jump - the suspension still shakes a bit. It worked fine on the empty chassis, but the truck with the same settings does not. (Couldnt cure it) (The cab-textures are copied and resized from Questnls Ginaf) Discuss here Technical notes: Each wheel has 2 hydrolics (commands): from axle to extra-node and from extra-node to body. This allows them to bend in the middle to make them shorter, but they cant get any longer once the angle is 180 degrees. By making them shorter you can keep the body straight on-road, and making them longer allows more wheel-travel. |
