Here's the terrain used in my Off-Roading video that I reported for the RoR Video Competition:
NOTE:
This terran was made for that movie, so it's not rich in content, just a basic island terrain!
It's basicly a very small island with 512x512 heightmap. The total map size is 500x500m, about 20x15 is above the water level, so this is pretty realistic terrain.
OK, the time has come. New version's features include
New front suspension
New wheel textures
New stacks Courtesy of Bonehead
New shock meshes Courtesy of Bonehead
Slightly larger tires
New mudflaps
Made some node non-contact so it doesn't get hung up so easy
Remember, it's built for crawling, not jumping or racing, so go for a spin on Smallisland and have some fun!
Thanks To Box5 for helping with submeshes and testing. Thanks to Bonehead for permission to use his meshes.
**You MUST have the original firetruck sterling pack and original sterling crawler pack!**
Please ask me and Box5 for permission if you want to release a modified version.
What happens when you merge a bus, a crawler, some 8 meter tall tires, and Cookie Monster?
Well... The Monster Crawler!
It is GIGANTIC. And it will go over just about anything. So far the fastest that I have completed the Aspen rock course with it is right around 45 seconds. In the Small island map it simply rumbles over the hills like speed bumps.
It also has some very long ties that extend down from the middle of the chassis that can pick up small, light vehicles, like the Turtle. So you can take two crawlers along or a backup car to take you back to the garage. Its just a lot of fun, and a blast to drive in multiplayer with friends.
Controls: Press the "o" key to activate the ropes. Press the "n" key to turn on the "RAMPAGE ENGAGED" warning light and give the "cookie monster" bloodshot eyes.
To install, place the zip file in your packs folder. The vehicle will appear under the "Crawlers" category.
Due to the large tires, a lot of clutch overloading will occur. I have found the vehicle makes the best power at full RPM in 6-8th gear.
Credits go to Pricorde for the bus cabin structure. I resubmshed it, created the texture, and added the 3-link suspension system.
It took almost 2 months to build this, but here it is! It took 2 months because there was many bugs to fix. But I think its very good terrain to drive, fly and sail.
Notes:
-Agora L gets stuck in truckshop
-Vehicles may duplicate themselves when editing with RoR toolkit (Fixed in new version of RoR Tookit -press update!)
