OVERVIEW
Starling island is an island map for Rigs of Rods (tested with v0.38.67), tuned for roleplaying. The map features:
- Port Starling - A large coastal town with docks, a marina, emergency service buildings and lots of nasty, tight corners, everything cramped around Starling bay
- Smaller towns and islands
- A large open mining area that happens to double as a neat spot to wreck vehicles
- An airstrip
- A bus stop network
- Cute details
- 6 Starling island public service vehicles
- 3 spawn points
CREDITS
- Redeye (terrain, object placement, some objects, vehicle reskins & minor modifications)
- donoteat (Penguinville buildings & roads - much of this map's eye candy heavily relies on his work)
- Betzi (houses)
- Lenni (original Sprinters & Firetruck)
- Arthur Hucksake (original Stepvan)
- Some objects from the stock North St. Helens map have been utilized
- Trees from the stock F1 test track have been utilized
INSTALLATION
1. Unpack into your Rigs of Rods "terrains" folder
2. Regenerate Cache
3. Have fun!
UPDATE 1.1
Please delete your old Starling-island folder before you install this one.
- Updated the Weasel rescue boat with the new, smoother-handling version
- Converted lots of textures to .dds
- Minor stuff
- Unless bugs or issues with future RoR versions arise, this is considered the "final" Starling island. Have fun!
Well here it is. The official release of my not-so-official FJ cruiser.
I worked nonstop on this car for a year and a half, and gave up about 6 months ago due to just loss of interest.
I had been talking to some friends recently on the forum who said they would really like to see it tidied up
and released. I dont exactly have some long drawn out story about how it got to where it is. It was really just
a huge learning experience. but finally decided to let it go because I lost all of the original files to the mesh.
I suck at writing. So heres a list. :|
Everything-me.
pictures to the left- taken an edited by my main man, Ferrettank!
Known problems are as follows:
Missing quite a few meshes. (Mainly suspension pieces)
Interior is incomplete.
No damage.
And there is a material bug with it on Deags Trail island map. For whatever reason, the tires are yellow. I cant figure it out...
This was my first try at animated props, flex tires, and flares, so it is what it is! Hope you enjoy it.
Also, modding, do as you wish, post pics as you wish. I dont really care. But if you'd like to release any of your mods (and credit me ;D), please ask my permission first.
The mountain is around 530m tall, and the key feature of the terrain, is the insane road that spirals it way to the peak. There is a tall communications mast situated on the summit, owned by the small company: "Eagles Peak Telecom International", who have a small office at the islands port. There is a small port/base area with a hanger, docks, ferry loader, truckshop, load spawner.
Trail island
Version: 1.1
Quite big update, even if everything cannot be seen:
- A big rock
- More trails
- Performance optimization
- Underwater is dark
- Detailled textures reworked
- Better shading
- etc.
Version: 1.0
A small island with detailled ground for offroad fun! Try to get on the water near the marina, there is a path there.
You will also find a giant parabolic antenna and an oil buoy inspired by Brent Spar where you can land with an helicopter.
There is also a little rock-crawling trail.
Hope you'll like it

Thanks Lifter for testing

Map made with L3DT
Updates:
- Removed turn signal beep and replaced with default turn signal sounds.
5/19/12:
- Added stability, no more veering off to the right at high speeds.
- Skin improvements including the Penguinville BRT company banner.
- Destination sign color changes, from Green to Orange. Also changed from "St. George Ferry" to "Staten island Mall via. Yukon Av."
- Added the missing start-up beep and a bus announcement that follows.
- Minor bus problems such as brakes and steering.
Hello ! This is my first map, i have made it in L3DT. I've called it "Trailer island" because it's a nice map for test your Offroad and make videos with it ( If you like it ).
It has a truck spawner and the rest is pure offroad. The sea water is not very high so it is very easy to travel in an off-road.
Sorry for some grammar mistakes
I Hope Do You Like It
Bye Bye
Hey guys once again. Finally i wasted 1 entire day to make this cool map! Its very, very great to drive in this map with your favorite cars, and exploring the island's landscape but paying attention to the cliffs
This map is great for cruising, offroading, rallying and most important: having fun! Download now! The screen shots are boring!
Note: this is the first map i made with grass

This is a terrain that was originally in a terrain pack by Pricorde. I added Roads, vehicle spawns and water... (It was made before water was implemented.) The roads are mostly bus friendly, unfortunately the terrain does bleed thru the road in a couple of places. Just slow down and you will be fine though. The map is ready for more edits but I feel this is a strong enough base to release, have fun and if you decide to mod, please credit Pricorde and me.
Some one else beet me to the fix: smallis-land-bug-fix
Thier bugfix seems better and hey, hey got there first
This will fix the small island truck dealership so that it is level to the road!
It goes into C:Program Files (x86)Rigs of Rodsstreamsfinalterrains
IT WILL overwrite original so I recommend backing it up before you overwrite
All I did was edit the .terr so the truck dealships were .5 units higher, no biggie
I did not create this map (obviously)
This is the Small island V2
This file contains:
-No lag
-Truck Dealer fix
*This means the level with the garage is leveled with the road so that you won't need a truck to drive on Small island!
-Works great when using low-to-ground vehicles!
Remember to remove the old smallisland.zip in order for this one to work. If this terrain revision lags, it's your computer. Should work for any version of Rigs of Rods above version 0.36. Pm me if you need any help installing, or if having problems doing so.
Here's the terrain used in my Off-Roading video that I reported for the RoR Video Competition:
NOTE:
This terran was made for that movie, so it's not rich in content, just a basic island terrain!
It's basicly a very small island with 512x512 heightmap. The total map size is 500x500m, about 20x15 is above the water level, so this is pretty realistic terrain.
This is a fine-tuned version of ArthurHucksake's chevy p30(or mighty mite). with starling island bus skin.
i'm not the author of the meshes and skin. i just fine tuned the .truck file.
this bus comes with a left side slide door and meshwheel, and 16seats
this is a fusion of the starling island P30 midibus, and the mighty mite.
All that I've done is try to make the bus as realistic as possible.
Credit for original bus goes to ArthurHucksake and Cydvx.
FEATURES
- realistic weight(about 3.4ton)
- realistic centre of gravity
- real front anti-roll bar,and fine tuned suspension
(all above make the bus handles much better, together with a much more comfortable ride)
-torque curve
-minor engine tuning
thanks for the authors for making the bus and skin
please send me a massage if you found any flaws, bugs. or if you have any suggestions for update. Thanks
ENJOY!
update 04 27 2012
- lightened meshwheel
- idle speed and torquecurve fix
- weight distribution and suspension setting fix
- engine tuned down for more realistic performance(this does not affect the top speed)
This version could handle and perform quite differently from the previous version, so please give me your feedback if you have any suggestions. thanks!
Its a ~Toyota Landcruiser 60 Series~ i think (pretty definite it is)
i was going to beta test it but what the, cant be bothered.
i think its a must when 4wding, and also its got good damage phyisics ;D
EDIT: I added some spotlights to the front, and fixed the mud flaps(still working on that.
Things to put in next version:
Mabie a roof rack? Im deciding still...
Notes:
Tends to drift to the side after cornering when towing heavy loads (intending to fix in next version)
Camera is easy do disrupt (slight bump may change the angle)
At the moment its got pretty tight brakes and a good amount of tourque.
Only two pics with upload because my pc stuffed up and only let me upload two!
Credits:
Aeodd at and Bartomelo PD for the HOLE THING!
and some person named i_so_live_here I found on the side of the road on small island yesterday... he did some small things but not much.
Notes:
-Agora L gets stuck in truckshop
-Vehicles may duplicate themselves when editing with RoR toolkit (Fixed in new version of RoR Tookit -press update!)
It took almost 2 months to build this, but here it is! It took 2 months because there was many bugs to fix. But I think its very good terrain to drive, fly and sail.
What happens when you merge a bus, a crawler, some 8 meter tall tires, and Cookie Monster?
Well... The Monster Crawler!
It is GIGANTIC. And it will go over just about anything. So far the fastest that I have completed the Aspen rock course with it is right around 45 seconds. In the Small island map it simply rumbles over the hills like speed bumps.
It also has some very long ties that extend down from the middle of the chassis that can pick up small, light vehicles, like the Turtle. So you can take two crawlers along or a backup car to take you back to the garage. Its just a lot of fun, and a blast to drive in multiplayer with friends.
Controls: Press the "o" key to activate the ropes. Press the "n" key to turn on the "RAMPAGE ENGAGED" warning light and give the "cookie monster" bloodshot eyes.
To install, place the zip file in your packs folder. The vehicle will appear under the "Crawlers" category.
Due to the large tires, a lot of clutch overloading will occur. I have found the vehicle makes the best power at full RPM in 6-8th gear.
Credits go to Pricorde for the bus cabin structure. I resubmshed it, created the texture, and added the 3-link suspension system.
