Starling Island is an island map for Rigs of Rods (tested with v0.38.67), tuned for roleplaying. The map features:
- Port Starling - A large coastal town with docks, a marina, emergency service buildings and lots of nasty, tight corners, everything cramped around Starling bay
- Smaller towns and islands
- A large open mining area that happens to double as a neat spot to wreck vehicles
- An airstrip
- A bus stop network
- Cute details
- 6 Starling Island public service vehicles
- 3 spawn points
- Redeye (terrain, object placement, some objects, vehicle reskins & minor modifications)
- donoteat (Penguinville buildings & roads - much of this map's eye candy heavily relies on his work)
- Betzi (houses)
- Lenni (original Sprinters & Firetruck)
- Arthur Hucksake (original Stepvan)
- Some objects from the stock North St. Helens map have been utilized
- Trees from the stock F1 test track have been utilized
1. Unpack into your Rigs of Rods "terrains" folder
2. Regenerate Cache
3. Have fun!
Please delete your old Starling-Island folder before you install this one.
- Updated the Weasel rescue boat with the new, smoother-handling version
- Converted lots of textures to .dds
- Minor stuff
- Unless bugs or issues with future RoR versions arise, this is considered the "final" Starling Island. Have fun!
This is a Thomas Saf-T-Liner HDX and my first vehicle I have done all of the work getting it in game.
This is (as far as I know) RoR's first flexbody school bus!
The project is ongoing, so expect issues followed by fixes that cause other issues.
(Official Release 1.0)
~Put the roof running lights back (still haven't placed the rear ones)
~Brought back proper collision (now collision doesn't cause weird shaking)
~The front wheel meshes aren't balanced (noticeable at high speeds).
~The bus is larger than most buses. I should have scaled it better when I had the chance.
~Rear 3 red running lights haven't been placed yet.
~Deformation isn't very realistic.
Ever since I joined RoR I've loved modding buses, and am one of the few 'bus people' who is sick of seeing a *BRAND NEW* CE300 mod every week... In order to make up for it I decided to make my own bus that was different, original, and somewhat high quality for my experience level. So I decided to make an HDX, because type D's are rare in RoR and it is very easy to model.
Don't bust my chops about it, its my first vehicle I've ever made.
-Animated props (including openable e-door and driver window)
-Flexbody (non-FPS versions)
-Changeable textures all over the bus (main body color, roof color, rim color, seat color [comes with pre-packaged seat textures], window color/tint, crossing guard front color, and bus #.
-TC, ABS [off by default], Slopebrake
-Working fans and other random animated props (after 39.7 is released)
-Under-body (currently there are no axles or anything)
-Fix the spikes on the bottom of the mirror
-Other small adjustments
-Convert all textures to DDS (my DDS plugin for photoshop doesn't work so it is easier to save as png for quicker editing)

TC2000FE- Engine sounds

I have decided to release MitCity officially, since I won't do any more work on it, I find it a bit of a waste to just "cancel" MitCity after how far it's come, so now, go enjoy the Final Release of MitCity! it will work in RoR 0.38, just some of the objects won't be collidable. in 0.39 everything is collidable.
The Map has countless elements suitable for roleplay, it has a fire station, a hospital, an impound lot, repairshop, car dealer, airport (non working) gas stations, variaty of houses from flats to villas. it even has a test centre for cars, test the suspension there, or do a full spec crashtest. the possibilities are endless!
Well this is my truck, i started it the day of thanksgiving. I have been working pretty hard, i have put much time into detail and it paid off, i like it and i hope you like it too.
-very fps frendly
-first fully animated engine all the way to the axles
-soft tires with a lot of grip
-fully animated interior
-non conflicting materials between trail truck and the truggy
-it is ok to mod and uses meshs for other projects.
-a bit under scale
-very slow (as in speed)
-no AO bake
-no skin able body, besides color
;now has better fps due to smaller png's thanks to hotrod!
;also now has mp versions for both truggy and trail truck. (no performance changes, besides better fps) wheels are still flexbodywheels!
made for RoR Terrains: 0.36*, 0.37, 0.38, 0.39* | Trucks: 0.37*, 0.38, 0.40
*Possible or partial compatibility. Not guaranteed to work.
I'm finally getting around to releasing this, since I don't plan on doing anything more to it.
IMPORTANT! If it crashes on the first launch after installing the zip, then re-start ror and it should work fine. IMPORTANT! To run the snow map, you need to run RoR as an administrator.

This is a 80's Suzuki Samurai.
It does about everything a semi-stock Samurai should. It has had a diesel swap (big thing crawlers did at the times). Low range 5 speed. Lockable diffs, half decent crawling suspension. Pulls trailers decently and pulls straight. Has all the newer RoR things, like traction control, abs, and other great things.
Original vehicle- squishy
N/b rework and other things- Me, rorlover563
Disclaimer-The stated people above own the parts that i used and i am not claiming them as my own in anyway.
this is my second map. as im learning i am trying to make maps that aren't boring as i see all the time. map making is something i would really like to get into but i need to learn tool kit, if you can help me with that please let me know.
credits to LJFHutch and Masa for all meshs.
also, please keep in mind that i hand placed all objects without toolkit
You need the flexbody patch, all 3 trucks are flexbody
I tried to make them very realistic in every way. They handle well for a pickup truck, and can do alot of things. You can drive a bobcat or other vehicle into the bed of the bumper pull version, and strap it down, then raise the tailgate back up and drive. The wrecker can tow most any light vehicles well. It has a extendable cable to help recover vehicles. The trucks include a good interior, and steering wheel.
Edit by Repo Admin: File fixed by Off-Roader to work in recent versions.
YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST RIGS OF RODS 0.38.33 TO USE THIS CAR. THIS CAR WILL NOT WORK IN AN OLDER VERSION OF ROR.
Updated with improved suspension, handling, and crashing behavior! The exterior camera is also now correctly centered on the car.
Gavril Zeta by Gabester
This is a compact SUV.
Separate detaching parts (hood, doors, trunk, fenders, mirrors, and bumpers)
Stable on-road handling
Excellent off-road capability (except for the R and 2WD)
ABS and traction control
Meshwheels2 for sharper handling
Please DO NOT modify this without my permission. Thanks.
Based loosely on the Pitts-Special aerobatic Bi-plane, this aircraft will perform pretty much every maneuver imaginable, roll, loops, cuban 8's.
The stall is very harsh and will usually result in a "Death spiral", but it usually only happens when the rudder is used violently, kill the engine and hold the nose down and it will regain control.
Steer on the ground with the rudder keys Z / X.
The "G" key is used to activate the smoke, which is very cool.
Use the flaps to trim the flight so it flies level. (i.e press "2" three or four times.)
If you are landing, completely cutting the engine will result in a much smoother glide than just closing the throttle.
This is my first creation, and a link to the forum thread is here: Pitts-Special

RoR 0.4.0.7+ version! Will not work in any version below. This is a "beta", so expect errors.
- Heavily modified Flatmap with railroad line, not so flat any more ;-)
- Two versions: Normal with manually operable switches (use your mouse) and FPS with simplified switches
- All track pieces included, you can use them to build your own map
- Working buffer stops
- A nice train spawner: circle in the front is for locos, circle in the back for wagons
- Alpha splatting on terrain
- New textures
- Updated trainspawner for usage of *.train files
- Simple vegetation
- Some simple gravel roads
- Implemented the train Hall that comes with my Demag ZKKE
- Some minor tweaks
- Switches are controlled by F-Buttons: F1 left, F2 straight ahead, F3 right. Click here for a tutorial
- Be careful when you operate the switches while driving a long train above multiple switches, derailments may occur
Under certain conditions derailments may occur, so be warned.
My special thanks goes to ulteq for his great work on RoR itself!

All content is for use in Rigs of Rods only! Read the copyright file included in the zip file!
Originally made for the 10-Day Trail Truck Build-Off, but we decided it was a good idea to finish it up and release a final version.
Base pickup/Light trail rig
Heavy duty dually pickup/Hauling rig
Fully detailed and realistic meshes
Realistic performance and limitations on all versions
Opening doors, hood and tailgate (F1-F8)
Animated pedals, shifter and steering wheel
MP ready flextires
All vehicles have opening hood/doors, and the pickups have opening tailgates also. This helps with making them crash more realistic. Best crash is about 50mph or so IMO. The dually has a 5th wheel hitch, the Ext cab has a bumper pull hitch. The Ext Cab can also load a bobcat in the bed and tie it down.
Place the zip in your packs or vehicles folder and enjoy.
This is another mod to the BoxDodgeRam. This time, it's been modded into a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.9L V8 Magnum and the 46RE 4-speed automatic transmission. I fixed the gear ratios and the max speed is 171 MPH, much higher than it was designed to go to. It's also been equipped with a 97dB Ecco back-up alarm and double flashing strobes in the fog lights and brake lights. The tailgate, doors, and hood still move. I updated the file with quieter sounds. All sounds are from my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500
Lone Peak - Hill Climb map
Mainly added angel script race, and reworked detailled textures a bit. Also the terrain should look less polygonal in the background
The goal of this map is to give you a smooth road for hill climbing. Take a powerful rear drive car and go!
- Smooth road, spec and normal mapped
- Alpha-splatting (detailled textures)
- Marina, ferry gate, multiple load and truck spawners
And many more!
Thanks to Lenni for letting me use his stone bridge
Thanks to Lifter for providing the very cool road shader
Thanks to invited members for valuable beta testing
Most of the textures from CGTextures.com
Everything made with L3DT, Blender and GIMP
TIP: disabling vegetation should highly increase your framerate
Quite big update, even if everything cannot be seen:
- A big rock
- More trails
- Performance optimization
- Underwater is dark
- Detailled textures reworked
- Better shading
A small island with detailled ground for offroad fun! Try to get on the water near the marina, there is a path there.
You will also find a giant parabolic antenna and an oil buoy inspired by Brent Spar where you can land with an helicopter.
There is also a little rock-crawling trail.
Hope you'll like it
Thanks Lifter for testing
CGtextures for Brent Spar and ground

Gavril Omega by Gabester Now with meshwheels2, ABS, and traction control, as well as other minor fixes and improvements!
The Omega is an off-road sports sedan. Choose from three versions:
Omega Six - ~300 horsepower I6 diesel base model
Omega Ten - ~500 horsepower V10 with bigger wheels and lifted suspension
Omega Twelve - 600+ horsepower V12 with a lightened chassis, stiffened lowered suspension, and street tires
Separate detaching parts (hood, doors, trunk, fenders, mirrors, and bumpers)
Stable on-road handling
Excellent off-road capability (except for the Twelve)
Four wheel drive on all models
You need RoR version 0.38 or later version for this map to work properly. Don’t come crying because the map is slow and/or your vehicle doesn’t contact the roads. You need 0.38 or later.
it does take a minute or two for the map to load, but its worth it
New update as of 6-29-11
Redone Rockton spawn area
Load spawner at the airport
Added a bus station (its crappy says AL T )
Added a lousy oil rig
Fixed the height of the two load spawners at the port
Added American speed limit signs and parking limit signs thanks to AndrewB
Some spawn areas show the trees and some dont for better FPS, and easy too delete trees if you want.
Got laggg? read below:
The port, quarry, and rockton city / bus station spawn areas do not have trees for better FPS, delete the trees at the end of the other .terrn file if you want.
Port and airport only have the oilrig mesh enabled on the terrain. To see it on the other maps, just delete the // in front of the opocoilrig. It is contactable, but rorbot goes right through the oilrig.
A large mod of Lennis Opmap, which is now called Rockton county. It is a terrain that is about the size of the North St.Helens map. This terrain has almost everything that makes for a very fun map. A terrain with flat areas, farm land, hills, a small river/stream, a large quarry, off road trails, forest, port, neighborhoods, airport, a town called Rockton and Lakeville, industrial area, two schools, and much more that will make this terrain fun for a long time. Also it no longer conflicts with Lennis Opmap.
There are multiple places you can spawn at.:
Rockton, Lakeville, airport, port, quarry, farm, industrial area.
Credits and help:
Lenni: for this great terrain and allowing for it to be developed even further.
Box5Diesel: for letting me use various objects from his Baker Ranch map.
Credit to the creator of the trees on the F1 track.
TampaPowers: for helping to make this map now driveable at night and really shows the detail on the terrain.
Easy: for adding photo textures to my sketchup buildings, Rockton Easy bridge and helping with the terrain.
DNE: for the content upgrade package, like the signs, port pieces, industrial buildings, and row houses.
Silvermanblue: for letting me use his buildings from the Nadexmap and helping me with the map.
SkyWlf77: for using his time to contact Mirfi and him letting me use the Romania buildings
which were made by Beolex whom also gave me permission to use the buildings.
Thatsnice: for the airport jetway and helping with the map.
csxgp38-2: for making the rail station.
Adamwright: for the garage.
Busdriveruk: for the fire station which I heavily modified.
AndrewB: for the American speedlimit signs, parking, and school zone signs
Brickman: making it all work and making buildings
Since it is not officially my terrain, you can modify without my permission.
Let me know if you want to use my sketchup buildings on another map.
I made the: Optimal-Mart, airport terminal, small and large schools, police station,
fire station, rock crusher, BrickVision office, mayors house, and oil rig (please dont use the oil rig it sucks).
Edit by Repo Admin: Includes a version for v0.4, conversion by klink.
This is my F1 car I have made for ROR. It's handling has been refined, but there still is no body panels on it. I have opted to not skin it for fps reasons, and probably never will. This car tops out in the 300 mph range and can be driven with the arrow keys but wheels are suggested. It currently holds the record lap times for several races. AWD, and I recommend it to be run with the split differentials, although in some situations locked or open have their advantages. Have fun with it but let me know before releasing any mods.
This map is for racing, boating, off-roading, or simply exploring.
It works for ROR 0.4.0.7.
Its size is 4 km x 4 km and contains a lot of details and activities. It may take a while to review every aspect.
You will find a lot of information on the thread and especially on this post , that includes links to a whole series of information sheets.
Please set your sight range to no more than 625m otherwise the visual rendering isn't good.
Do not activate waves.
Set vegetation to maximum
Turn particles on
Reflective water type
Note : this map is fictional. It's not about the Orkney Islands and Shetland Islands.
Very Special Thanks to aljowen for help in language and translations.
Thanks to JohnV and Scania 970 for support.
Many thanks to Miura and Sputnik_1 for tech help.
This is a small, easy to fly helicopter built by HagDeVries ( meshes & textures ) and Lifter ( node/beam, animated dashboard & physics )
The teaser video:
First mission video:
How to fly:
- enter the helicopter
- all engines on ( Ctrl+Home / Strg+Pos1)
- all engines full throttle ( Ctrl+PageUP / Strg+Bild hoch)
- wait for engines reach 100% before lifting off
F1/2: collective Lift control up / down
F3 to F8: Trims. Very helpful for keyboard users, can be used as forward flight cruise control too. ( Info in the T-screen or zoom to the trim indicator on the center console in the cockpit )
F9/10: load-hook UP/DOWN
F11/12: load-hook-cam screen fold/unfold
Arrow-keys / Pfeiltasten for cyclic blade pitch. Forth/Back to dive/climb, Left/Right to strafe
Rudder-keys / Rudertasten for tail rotor pitch (Z/X or Y/X depending on keyboard layout). Tail rotor impact reduces with increasing speed. Just like the real ones.
Ctrl+1/Strg+1: visual laser-scanner for easy pickups. Helps a lot when picking up loads in pilots view using the hook-cam screen.
Ctrl+2/Strg+2: avionic lights
"n": front light ( working flare added for night flights)
"L": operate the hook to grab a load or release it
"o": operate the ties to attach or detach
"ALT-L": release an underbelly attachment ( -> load file)
- fuel consumption..if you run it dry, you kill your engines.
Consumes fuel in flight, refuels when landed AND engines are off.
There is a fuel indicator in the dash ( the green on in the center ) and you will see warning lights.
YELLOW: 50% // RED-Flashing: Get fuel fast!
- custom sounds
- custom wingfoils
- special rotor-head visuals
Swapping textures depending on Engines RPM
- video-screen in the cockpit for easy load pickups in pilots view (use F11/F12 to show)
- laser scanner in the hook for easy load pickups ( use Ctrl+1 / Strg+1 )
- there is a LOAD file in the zip, which contains a base frame for attachments.
It will auto-lock to any helicopter of this series within 3 meters.
You are free to build your own underbelly attachments for this helicopter.
- flexbody skids
- it is NOT crash-able, just built to fly and have fun
- can lift itself:
- Update #1: Contacters added to land on other vehicles
- max external load: 1000 kg, lift-dead max is about 1500 kg+, ( warning indicator in the dashboard )
- Top Speed: 150 knots ( warning indicator in the dashboard ) You will get in serious trouble flying too fast.
This project was built in several hundreds of hours. So please just show some respect to our work and rate it fair.
New map that I made with lots of rock crawling trails. A few custom built roads for hauling. A baja race with checkpoints (timer not working), and various desert things. Make shift landing area for planes (just so they weren't left out completely).
This is just a all around useful map for anything really... Enjoy.

Here's my jeep, it's been in development for nearly a year, it's my first vehicle that I finished.
-Seperate hood/grille, for (atleast decent) deformation (My first try):
"Deformation is awesome." -Gabester -Dana 44 axles
-Atlas II transfercase
I've used real life gear ratios from both the gearbox and transfercase.
With custom sounds.
Credits to Fat-Alfie for his shock texture.
-38" Pitbull Rockers
-Custom made rollcage
-Openable boot and bonnet
-A wide variety of moving parts

[18-03-2012]-Fixed the idle sound, added ropables, made steering stronger. [08-05-2012]-Wheels tuning: added meshwheels2 and did some more tuning to Fat-Alfie's wheelbeams. Less bouncy wheels, better handling on and off the trails. -Minor fixes.
1.5km x 1.5km.
The terrain is set in rural Greece and includes farmland, villages, forests and mountains. There is a long network of dirt and asphalt roads which run throughout the terrain and the various areas of the map complete with signs. An FPS version with reduced vegetation density and distances for use with slower computers is also included which gives a significant increase in performance.
1. Copy .zip and paste it into your RoR terrain folder (such as "C:UsersYOURNAMEDocumentsRigs of Rods 0.38terrains" (Windows 7) 2. Open the .zip and then go to a folder called "+++ Impostors +++", inside you will find a bunch of png files; copy these to wherever RoR stores imposters (default is the root directory - where the ror.exe is).
3. Run RoR and drive
I give permission for anyone to use the objects, textures, sounds and anything else created by me in this .zip for free Rigs of Rods projects provided I, LJFHutch, am credited with their creation. I also give permission to adapt or modify the objects/textures etc to suit your terrain (such as retexturing a tree's leaves, changing the saturation of the grass texture, etc), again, with proper credit and so long as you do not claim to have created them yourself. However, seek my permission for any published modification of this terrain.

So, I decided to finally officially release this map, since I have not done anything to it for a long time. It's the same to the last beta I posted.
Credits so far:
-LJFHutch, for the vegetation and the signs.
-Lifter, for the tent and the motor home attached together.
-The guys who made Artifex Terra 3D for the bump mapping which Nipash got from and implemented in RoR and helped me a lot to implement it on my map too.
-CG Textures, for the textures, after done some editing on them, especially the road one.
-Oh and myself for the rest.:P
-And everyone else, including the ones above, who contributed with their suggestions and troubleshooting, especially Fat-Alfie and Miura.
-Also, many thanks to Nadeox1 for the release trailer of the map:
Please, let me know if I forgot someone.
This terrain works only with 0.39! Neither 0.4 nor 0.38 or lower. Try a 0.39 version. I would suggest some former version than 0.39.7. You can have both 0.4 and 0.39 installed simultaneously as separate games and run whichever you want without problems.
Since this uses an overlay colour texture blended with detailed textures, it can not be converted in 0.4 properly, because there is no such option, as texture blending, yet.
Modding generally, is permitted, as long as you put a link to the official terrain here and the author. You can start a thread about your mod, so I can see your progress. If it's going really well, I may post it as an official update to the map, here or the thread and credit you.
(PLEASE, DON'T RATE THIS DOWN IF YOU EXPERIENCE ERRORS! POST THEM BELOW OR ON THE THREAD INSTEAD! RATING HAS TO DO WITH HOW YOU LIKE-DISLIKE THE TERRAIN'S CONTENT AND FEATURES AFTER IT LOADS AND RUNS FINE!)
RoR's first urban map. Updated to work with 0.36.x

Oops Insurance building by kitteh.
Nonworking (for now) traffic lights.
Two and a half tons of distilled awesome for your enjoyment.
Diamond Brook is a small town map that I made! I have tested it and it works very well with only one bug where the grass messes up a bit (Not where you can't use it)
I worked very hard on this map and I hope you like it!
This is my new map, it's a little archipelago in the sea. There is one main tarmac road that goes around the bigger island. There are some offroad trails on other isles and in the main island.
The only way to reach other isles is by boat or with an helicopter. There is a boat spawner and one already spawned, there are no truck spawner because there is not enough space.
Hope you enjoy the beaches and the terrain that is full of vegetation, for better results set it to 100% and use this water option: "Reflection + Rifraction (Quality optimized)" from the RoR Config.
Remember that this map only works with 0.4.0.7+ versions.
Update for the map! YOU MUST CLEAR YOUR CACHE or all improvements won't be displayed!
What's in the update:
-Totally new groundmodel, now there is asphalt, grass, rock and sand;
-Roads are now more smooth and without bumps;
-Trees density reduced;
-Resized/darker grass textures, now the look better and have realistic dimensions;
-Darker rock and grass texture, less shining;
-Reworked some textures in the airport.
-Boat spawn underwater, everything will be ok after you enter it;
-Due to a RoR bug, not soild groundmodels will make wheels explode. Please go slow on sand.
WARNING: make sure you run RoR "as an administrator", otherwise the map will crash, it's like this...
- Added a full new map, dirt track, rally style
- Reworked all ground textures and materials, now features normal mapping and alpha splatting
- Reworked the vegetation a lot
- Reworked caelum sky and atmosphere
- Angelscript races for both maps
Thanks a lot to LJFHutch, who let me use his birch grass texture.
Thanks also to Lifter, I used a few objects from a previous project that he modelled and I textured.
You may like to download the K700 from ZTS which fits good in the scenery: http://www.rigsofrods.com/repository/view/781
Activate the vegetation, the maps are really based on it.
If your computer can handle it, activate HDR, the maps are pretty much designed for this (will look rather dark otherwise)
Some videos better than long texts (the car in the second video is not available, don't ask)
This map is pure offroad with tons of mud, really deep water crossing, rocks,... It is inspired by the extreme offroad challenge held around Ladoga lake in Russia.
Play the map with vegetation ON otherwise it will look terrible.
It features a time race - not working with the present version of RoR, but fully functionnal otherwise.
Fir trees not made by me - I don't know who made them, thanks a lot they're great!
Rock textures from CGTextures.com
Edit by Repo Admin: Includes a version for v0.4, conversion by klink.
This is 1989 FSO Polonez 1600 rally car, group A. The last evolution used in FSO works team, pretty slow compared to the previous group B version. Locked or split differential in option, traction control to simulate the limited slip differential when it is set on"split". Shortest used final ratio (5.37).
This is fall Run, a terrain i started .. i think in the fall here last year! me and it went through some hard times lol but it is finished.
there are a few versions that include a low FPS, FPS a Detailed version that uses a tweaked version of the ETTerrain.material, two races have been added, one on the road and one off.
there's a little something i added in to have fun with and you may see it when you go to load your terrains, just look for slinky :P
i tried a few new things with this terrain, fire particles, other particles, sounds and water and the new material.
credits to haselnut116601 from the Ror forums here for the cat 330c animation, the (ashes48_330c.skeleton) very cool stuff! and i think this will open something new up to new terrains
check the readme for more credits and use of these files.
This is my little Suzuki Samurai crawler. It was originally supposed to be a budget rig but as progress went on too much money was spent! The truck is inspired by a seemingly unremarkable drawing i found randomly on the internet but i thought it was cool.
