I think I'm getting the hang of map making. I'm still learning, so pointers (pref. in dummy terms) are welcome:D.. Tell me what you think, I still have to get permission to use objects I used so, no release unless that happens.

Map is great but, it's not really what I wanted grass wise. The grass makes it hard to stay on the trail sometimes but, its better than no grass.
Next I'm going to try and add trees, might end up making my own objects in sketchup if I can figure it out. One step at a time.

Some of you may remember this map while back from development screens and what not. It's been a while and unfortunately I did kinda lost motivation for this map due other projects. I thought some of you still might enjoy it so here you go.

It has some bugs and stuff. You need to "backspace" to the track; spawn your car, get in, and drag or press backspace until you're on the track. Only 0.4 version for now. Although it has some inconveniences, I hope you can still enjoy it :)

You can modify it etc. but don't release/post it on external sites, only here in official forums or repository and give the right credits if you do.

I have decided that the previous layout for the map was just wrong (and it didn't have any snow!!) so I have decided to completely change it. Now the map is exactly the same size, but the hills are smoother, making it easier to place smooth main roads. Before, there were only 2 town areas, but they were more like cities as they were gigantic and it would have been near impossible to fill in one area, let alone two. Now though, there are 3 much smaller town areas, one of which has two joined towns. Another flat area is around which will contain an airport (a nice big one :D) The main spawn point is about 5km from the first town and roughly 10km to the farthest, however when completed I will add 4 more terrn files to the map with spawn points in each town. I am thinking of giving the main roads names or numbers and also road signs indicating the direction to each town (which I will have to make myself obviously).

COMPLETED:
  • Country Roads (Needing names/numbers/codes)
  • Main Town Roads
  • Heightfield and texture work
  • Placing of speed limit and other road signs (apart from road signs indicating the direction of each town)


TO DO:
  • Make all the town roads
  • Place houses, apartment blocks, shopping centres/malls, other tall buildings, petrol stations, supermarkets, dealerships, and anything you want me to add, even if you have made the model yourself (and yes, you will be mentioned in the credits)
  • Make the airport
  • Trees and vegetation
  • Stuff
